The Malaga Declaration asserts EFOMP’s vision of the role of Medical Physics professionals in Europe.
In the article 'EFOMP Malaga Declaration 2023: An updated vision on Medical Physics in Europe' the current European legislation regarding the Medical Physics Expert is presented; EFOMP’s recommendations regarding the Radiation Protection Expert are discussed. This article presents an updated version of the first Malaga Declaration (2006). The updated declaration will provide direction to the future development of the profession in Europe.

This article presents the protocol on Quality Controls in PET/CT and PET/MRI published online in May 2022 by the European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), which was developed by the Working group for PET/CT and PET/MRI Quality Control (QC) protocol. The main objective of this protocol was to comprehensively provide simple and practical procedures that may be integrated into clinical practice to identify changes in the PET/CT/MRI system’s performance and avoid short- and long-term quality deterioration.

The aim of this document is to clarify EFOMP’s position on article60.3 (c-f) of the EU BSS for optimization processes and was approved by the EFOMP Board during the EFOMP Officers meeting held in Girona, Spain, 15-16 June 2017.

The purpose of this European Guidance on Medical Physics Expert (MPE) is to provide for improved implementation of the Medical Exposure Directive and revised BSS provisions related to the MPE and to facilitate the harmonisation of the education and training of medical physicists to MPE level among the Member States aiming at an improvement in cross-border mobility.
