The 8th EFOMP-EUTEMPE didactic webinar will take place Tuesday June 22nd @ 11am BST
Webinar: "What do the results of MTF and NPS mean in quality control testing?"
Speaker: Alistair MacKenzie
Guidance and publications on undertaking quantitative measurements, such as modulation transfer function and noise power spectra, have been around for many years. They have been shown to be a easy and rapid to undertake and the results are highly repeatable and sensitive to changes in the detector. However, the incorporation of these tests into routine quality control is far from common place. Why is this? What are the barriers to using these tests? Are they useful for everyone? This webinar will cover some of the practicalities of undertaking these measurements but more importantly how to interpret the results.
Dr Mackenzie has worked in radiological physics for 29 years, gaining a wide experience in the practical testing of all types of X-ray imaging equipment. He worked in KCARE for 9 years and undertook in-depth evaluations of digital imaging systems, during which he became an international expert in quantitative analysis of digital images. Currently, he is head of NCCPM and a researcher and working on the effect of image quality of digital mammography systems on cancer detection. He has over 70 publications and has presented at many national and international conferences. He is the lead for the EUTEMPE training of MPEs in quantitative measurements and optimisation in diagnostic radiology.
