EFOMP is delighted to announce the publication of the Summer 2021 issue of its quarterly newsletter, European Medical Physics News!
The theme of this issue of the newsletter is the 3rd European Congress of Medical Physics (ECMP 2020), which is taking place online from 16th–19th June. The themed content begins with a highly informative article by ECMP President, Mika Kortesniemi. In order to help you plan your attendance at the Congress, we have included ten articles written by session Chairpersons, where they highlight the content of their sessions. The conference was originally planned to take place in the northern Italian city of Turin. Since, alas, we cannot go there in person right now, medical physicist Veronica Rossetti has written an article about her home city, to whet our appetites for future visits.
The newsletter contains a number of regular features, including a topical message from EFOMP President Paddy Gilligan and a summary of recent EFOMP activities by Secretary General Efi Koutsouveli. You will also find an overview of recent papers published in Physica Medica, by the journal’s Editor-in-Chief Iuliana Toma-Dasu, while our popular Medical Physicist’s Free Time section contains an article by Julie Haglund about her role as a fitness instructor. This issue contains two articles about medical physics research and there is a very useful resource, in the form of a comprehensive directory to help us navigate through the jungle of medical physics acronyms.
In a departure from our usual format, this ECMP-focussed issue is rounded off by an ECMP Commercial Supplement, with no fewer than 12 articles from commercial companies, including sponsors of the conference and those which are EFOMP Company Members. We are sure you will appreciate reading about the companies’ products and activities.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue of European Medical Physics News! Please do feel free to pass on the link or the pdf to friends, colleagues and students who you think might be interested.
