Main Purpose
The Radiation Protection Specialist reports to the Unit Head and is responsible for implementing activities related to the radiation protection of patients.
Role
The Radiation Protection Specialist plays several key roles: (1) substantive expert, developing international recommendations and guidance related to the radiation protection of patients; (2) adviser, providing authoritative and objective information to Member States and working with them, through the IAEA's technical cooperation programme; and (3) analyst, maintaining an overview of the status of the radiation protection of patients in Member States and working collaboratively with experts in Member States on projects related to new development in the field.
