Radiation Knowledge is a global quality improvement platform that shares the practical knowledge in fields of radiation medicine with professionals worldwide. It is an initiative that is under the umbrella of the Saudi Oncology Society (SOS) in collaboration with King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Radiation Knowledge (RK) in brief:
- Started in the field of radiotherapy planning, and will expand to cover all fields of radiation in medicine
- 1st Activity: 2016 international radiotherapy plan competition (400 planners from 55 countries)
- 2nd Activity: 2017 international radiotherapy plan competition (1675 planners from 96 countries)
- Presented on the IAEA-ICARO2 conference, the 90 min talk was recorded and posted on the dedicated webpage on the IAEA Human Health Campus
- RK YouTube: Top planners share the best planning strategies through recorded webinars
The registration for the 2018 Plan Competitions is Open Now and they are as follows:
- Bi-lateral Lung SBRT Case: For IMRT/VMAT/HT/CK/IMPT techniques --- Competition has started - Registration is Open - Deadline: April 30, 2018
- Brain Mets SRS Case:
- PTV-Based Competition: For IMRT/VMAT/HT/IMPT --- Competition has started - Registration is Open - Deadline: May 10, 2018
- GTV-Based Case: CK/GK (The first Gamma Knife competition ever to take place)
- Left Chest Wall Case: For 3D-CRT technique ONLY (1st international 3D-CRT plan competition)
Why this year is so special?
- Three Competitions In One
- The first 3D-CRT and first Gamma Knife international plan competitions ever to take place
- New Quality Evaluation Criteria: Dose coverage, OAR sparing & plan complexity indices (for Linac Based plans)
- A total of 10 000 USD Prizes to be awarded to more than 20 top planners from all over the world, and also top planners' list per continent and country will be announced
- The number of webinars will be specified based on the level of participation of countries
- The webinars can be presented in many languages, at RK we believe that Language should not be a barrier
- If a country has more than 100 participants; a list of best planners for that specific country will be announced
